Dyscalculia – Information and Resources

This thoughtful book by Glynis Hannell provides a detailed overview of dyscalculia based upon the expert observation of children who have touble with numbers. It is packed full with information and guidance for teachers and parents. The book draws upon a variety of successful intervention tecniques to steer teachers through the processes that underpin numeric success. Each section of the book sets out example to highlight when specific mathematical difficulties arise together with “action plans” for teachers to help their students improve.

The second edition of Hannell’s book has a greater emphasis on the importance of training “number sense” before teaching procedures, as well as the importance of teaching students how to strategise.
